'AGHELH NEBUN CRF RESIDENT AGREEMENT
As a resident of ‘Aghelh Nebun, I understand that three guiding principles are key to my reintegration and healing plan. They are:
I. Be Respectful of Others.
II. Be Respectful of Myself.
III. Be Respectful of My Environment.
During my residency at ‘Aghelh Nebun, I agree to attend and participate, both actively and sincerely, in all scheduled camp activities and programs including, but not limited to, employment and education training (RBIT program), required CSC programming, employment opportunities, and cultural activities. I agree that participation in such activities is essential to my healing. Cultural activities include but are not limited to: (a) one-on-One Elder or ACLO counselling, (b) healing/talking/resolution circles (c) sweat lodge ceremonies (d) fasts (e) sacred grounds maintenance and improvements.
I understand I am here to follow my own individual healing plan and that I am expected to respect the healing path others are following. I also understand that I am expected to abide by the Seven Teachings with Respect being the most important.
As a resident of ‘Aghelh Nebun, I agree to the following:
1. I understand I will be assigned a weekly chore and will do my best to complete this chore to facility and staff standards in due time. I understand my chore assists in the overall cleanliness and maintenance of ‘Aghelh Nebun. In addition to my weekly chore, I will strive to maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness in my room and assist in the overall general cleanliness and maintenance of camp and the camp grounds.
2. I understand I will be assigned a room and room key and will be responsible and accountable for that room upon my arrival until my departure. I understand there is a $5 fee for replacement keys. I agree I will be accountable for any damage incurred during occupancy. I understand that resident rooms are equipped with the necessary furniture required for comfort. I understand that I am not permitted to bring additional furniture to ‘Aghelh Nebun and am not permitted to alter the walls of my assigned room in any way that would cause permanent damage (nail, drill, or hang items) without prior permission from the Camp Manager.
3. I agree that I will not have in my possession or use any illicit drugs (unless prescribed), drug paraphernalia, pornography, alcohol, items considered to be used in the making of an alcoholic liquid, weapons, and/or any new items that do not match my current income.
4. I agree I will maintain an acceptable level of personal hygiene including my clothing and bedding.
5. I agree that I will be up, ready and able to work or attend programs by 0815 on work and program days. I agree it is my responsibility to get up early enough to prepare myself, both physically and emotionally, to attend such activities.
6. I understand that visitors are permitted to attend camp on non-work or non-program days. I also understand that all visitors must be approved by the institution or my Parole Officer prior to the visit. I understand that visitors must check-in at Activators prior to travelling to ‘Aghelh Nebun.
7. I agree that I will operate my television, stereo, cellphone, or iPod at a reasonable volume at all times.
8. I agree to turn in any prescription drugs to the front office at ‘Aghelh Nebun. I understand this is for my own safety and monitoring of such drugs.
9. I agree that the door will be left open if I am visiting another resident in their room.
10. I agree to abide by the rules of the main kitchen and kitchen staff and understand this is for health code reasons.
11. I understand that room searches may be conducted by camp residence workers to ensure the safety of the residents and to detect any violation of the Fire, Health or Work Safe regulations as well as the possession of any contraband.
12. I understand that in accordance with WorkSafe BC, smoking is not permitted inside any of the buildings at ‘Aghelh Nebun. I agree to use ashtrays for cigarette ashes and butts. I agree to not use the side of any structure to put out cigarettes. This is destruction of property and shows a lack of respect for the facility. I understand that if I am caught smoking inside any of the camp buildings, I can be fined $250 for the first infraction and can be removed from the facility for the second infraction.
13. I understand that I am permitted to bring a total of five boxes of my possessions (including my television if applicable) to ‘Aghelh Nebun. I understand that televisions must not exceed 32 inches. I understand that additional personal effects are required to be stored off premises at a personal cost.
14. I agree I am responsible for my own possessions and personal effects while a resident at ‘Aghelh Nebun. I understand that the camp and its staff are not responsible for any items that are lost, stolen, or damaged in any way during residency. I understand that property left behind upon a resident’s departure (such as UAL or suspension) will be immediately secured and itemized. I agree to designate an authorized person or charity to receive effects in the event this should occur.
15. I understand the leave and travel privileges associated with ‘Aghelh Nebun for all residents.
16. I understand that monthly, ‘Aghelh Nebun is required by CSC to provide a summary report called a Resident Action Plan (RAP). This details my goals, problems, and successes in areas of personal growth, employment, education, recreation, communication skills, stress management, and if I am following my individual Correctional Plan. To complete this, I will be asked to discuss the above in an informal manner with an assigned staff member on a regular basis. I will be provided with and sign a copy of the final report. The Resident Action Plan will be shared with my Parole Officer during a case conference meeting.
17. I understand that all residents are entitled to certain rights and privileges during their residency. I understand that ‘Aghelh Nebun staff are available to answer questions and address concerns about these rights and their protection. I understand that should my rights be infringed a grievance process is in place to address the infringement.
I. During my stay at ‘Aghelh Nebun, I shall enjoy shelter, food, and reasonable privacy.
II. I shall be treated in accordance with ‘Aghelh Nebun values, mission statement, and guiding principles.
III. Grievances can be pursued in the following order: (a) raised with the appropriate staff member (b) raised at the House Meeting, if appropriate (c) taken to the Camp Manager of ‘Aghelh Nebun (d) taken to the Director of Operations of ‘Aghelh Nebun (e) taken to the Executive Director of ‘Aghelh Nebun.
I understand how the guiding principles of RESPECT apply to the above agreements. I understand that my Correctional Plan should work hand in hand with my Traditional Healing Plan. I understand that, if possible, issues will be resolved in a Traditional manner but that all Prince George Activator Society, Correctional Service of Canada, and Parole Board of Canada, rules, conditions, policies, and standards continue to apply.
