LUNCH PROGRAM

Prince George Activator Society facilitates a lunch program that distributes soup, sandwiches, and baked goods to local elementary schools and shelters on a weekly basis.  The food provided to these locales is all homemade, consisting of fresh and nutritional ingredients, to promote health and well-being within the community.  This volunteer program is designed to build volunteer hours to be included on a resume and “give back” to the community.

All residents of Activators are required to volunteer time every month toward the lunch program.  Residents who work full-time are expected to volunteer up to two hours per month while all other residents are required to volunteer up to four hours per month.  Volunteer hours will be scheduled and tracked by the program coordinator.

This volunteer work will include but is not limited to:
  • Learning FoodSafe procedures and food handling skills
  • Learning the nutritional properties of various foods and spices
  • Food preparation - chopping and peeling vegetables, measuring ingredients, etc.
  • Dishwashing and sanitization procedures
  • General kitchen clean-up and maintenance
